What is Bunny Dollars?

Bunny Dollars is a shared-bills cash-flow app for couples. It calculates how much each partner should contribute to recurring shared bills from every paycheck and forecasts the future balance of a dedicated bills account.

Couples can split expenses proportional to income, 50/50, or with custom shares. Bunny Dollars uses each partner’s pay schedule and each bill’s schedule to forecast whether the account stays funded for the next 12 months, and shows how to cover a shortfall before it happens.

Bunny Dollars is available on the web, iPhone and Android, and is published by Reality Bound, LLC.

Frequently asked questions

What does Bunny Dollars do?

Bunny Dollars works out how much each partner should put toward shared recurring bills from every paycheck, then forecasts the balance of the account those bills are paid from for the next 12 months, so you can see whether it stays funded.

How is Bunny Dollars different from a budgeting or expense-tracking app?

Budgeting and expense-tracking apps tell you where your money went, or who owes whom. Bunny Dollars looks forward: it plays your pay dates and bill dates ahead and tells you what each person needs to send so the shared bills account never runs short.

What is a shared bills account?

A checking account used only for recurring shared bills. Each partner sends a fixed amount from every paycheck and every bill is paid from it on autopay, which keeps the balance predictable enough to forecast.

Can we split bills 50/50 or proportional to income?

Yes. You can split bills proportional to income, 50/50, or with custom shares, and you can set one split for everything or adjust individual bills.

How much should each partner contribute per paycheck?

Each partner’s contribution per paycheck is their share of the yearly shared bills divided by the number of paychecks they receive in a year. Bunny Dollars does that calculation for you and shows the math.

What happens if the forecast shows a shortfall?

Bunny Dollars shows when and by how much the account would go negative, and an Auto-cover plan spreads the extra contributions needed across upcoming paychecks before the bill hits.

Does Bunny Dollars move money?

No. Bunny Dollars tells each person how much to send; you set up the transfer or direct deposit with your bank or employer.

Do I have to link a bank account?

No. Bank linking through Plaid is optional and read-only. Every part of the app works with amounts and dates you enter yourself.

How far ahead does Bunny Dollars forecast?

Twelve months. If income or bills change, update them and the forecast is recalculated.
